MetaGeeks is an online Toys and Trading card business that I founded in July 2018, at aged 18. Initially a passion project for a little fun, buying and reselling on established platforms. Since then, the company has grown into a strong online retailer, selling to thousands of customers in over 60 countries across the world During my time running the business, I have become experienced using Shopify, WooCommerce as well as a series of digital marketing platforms such as Google ads/ adwords, Facebook Ads and Instagram ads.
The outreach ambassador role involves working with students (aged from 14-18) to teach student values and to encourage further progression to higher education. In particular, I consistently work on the DISCOVER programme, that introduces local 16-18 year old students from disadvantaged backgrounds to higher education and teaches the soft skills required to be a student.
This role is a summer intern role, in Supplier Assurance. The role includes auditing the bank's suppliers to ensure compliance with pre-agreed policies. During this time, I have been involved in the entire risk management process, including being part of the team that conducts the external audit. A charity fundraising challenge was also part of this internship. From this, I, with a group of other interns, raised £806.27 for Mental Health UK. From this experience, I have learnt the detail of what it means to work in the financial services and the levels of relationship management required. Knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting writing has been gained, due to the level of engagement required in the role.
