As a young female South Asian fashion photographer, I am incorporating my love for my heritage into my work. As one of the only people of colour in a white dominated fashion photography class at UAL, I’ve come to realise that it is important for me to be proud of my heritage and to showcase this in my practise. Recently, I gained the role of course representative for BA Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion UAL. My ambition is to have diversity and inclusivity in the creative industry so that we can integrate cultural diversity and inspire girls from my background to go into the arts, by acting as a role model.
A week long internship working with Photographer and Director James Pearson-Howes, which I found through Arts Emergency. During the week I assisted on a look book photo shoot for a client as well as organise and document James’s negatives, labelling each file in chronological order. We discussed my long term goals as a up and coming fashion photographer as well as possible job opportunities. We ended the week with a visit to an exhibition called “Home is Not a Place” at the Photographers Gallery. Show less
