About

My name is Carolina and I am a 27-year-old textile designer from Gothenburg with a BA and MA education from the Swedish School of Textiles, graduating in June 2023, with a specialisation in knit design. The main focus of my MA work has been how to communicate storytelling through the interaction between body and textile, which resulted in a collection of knitted body sculptures. The knitted sculpture where planned out on domestic hand-knit machines and realised on a large scale through programming on the SHIMA industrial machine. I have programmed and knitted out my BA collection as well as my MA collection together with the support of a technician. I have a good base knowledge of the knit programs and due to being a very fast learner and good with technology, I am certain that I can a reliable and valuable co-worker. My main interest is knit design, however, I have also pattern design experience as well as working with designing garments in CLO3D and Illustrator. I have previous experience in both large-scale fashion design, at Monki, and small business operations with Emmamalena. I enjoy working in groups and with specific briefs, creating designs for different prices and clients. I am very efficient, focused, a keen learner and a good problem solver. I have a lot of energy and I am of a positive disposition. Previous education has given me varied knowledge within different art professions, including photography, painting and ceramics, giving me a large understanding of how to work with design in visual as well as tactile contexts. After a five-year design education and internship, I am excited to start working within the field. Most sincerely, Carolina Sardal Jerhov

Iris van Herpen

2D/3D Graphic design intern for the duration of 6 months (27/01/2024- 31/07/2024). Extracts from the recommendation letter: "During this time she worked in the atelier on couture pieces for the ‘Hybrid Show’ presented during Paris Couture Week in June 2024, as well as preparation of materials for laser cutting, digital laser-cutting files and digital textile prints and embroidery templates. Specifically she worked on the textile print development, embroidery templates, digital sampling, dimensional and material research within a collective environment, working closely with the Atelier team and helped develop the digital base and materials for couture garments. She helped to maintain the studio on a daily basis. 2D/3D Graphic design Intern,Carolina refined and furthered the following skills; knowledge of soft and hard materials, problem solving within digital construction, attention to detail and Adobe Illustrator knowledge within the fashion field, as well as communication within a creative team of interns and employees. She worked efficiently on multiple stages of development operations (such as 3 dimensional sampling for upcoming collection, preparation of materials for laser- cutting, heat-molding, creating digital files and fabric prints for client garments which have been passed onto the atelier team for further use). I recommend Carolina for her motivation and persistence. She has a good feeling for 2D digital construction and an innovative approach. She was always willing to learn and further her skills whilst maintaining a professional attitude. Furthermore, she was a hard working, integral member and a great asset to the IVH team. Carolina not only has a great personality, but a good work ethic and positive spirit as well. It has been a pleasure working with her and I wish her the very best in her future endeavours. I would love to work with her again should the opportunity arise. Sincerely, Petra Schuddeboom Head of Atelier IVH"

It was a great pleasure for me to work with Carolina for my collaboration together with the Royal Opera . Carolina is very sharp, focused , professional, handling pressure and stress in a very good manner. Great speaker and very curious always want to learn and challenge herself . She is always very ambitious and it was simply a pleasure mentoring her through the process, as she both listens and took the advice seriously but also always have idea and opinions of her own she continues to explore.
