Gabriella di Sambuy

Gabriella di Sambuy is an emerging inclusive brand, which defends freedom of expression, suffocated by stereotypes and social constraints. The Fall/Winter 22-23 collection was created with the intention of freeing people from the chains that society imposes on them, freeing them from material desires, social conventions, and prejudices. The collection takes the name of Catharsis, which in Greek means purification, redemption, cure. The garments are eco-sustainable and Gabriella di Sambuy's goal is to create a slowfashion brand for conscious consumption, with quality and Made in Italy, which enhances creativity and craftsmanship. All the garments are handmade, a part of the collection is made up of haute couture garments, tailor-made pieces and pieces created in upcycling to limit waste and give a future to the past. Gabriella di Sambuy defines her style as «alien baroque» precisely because of the desire to safeguard tradition by projecting it into the future. This concept is also taken up in the choice of materials, the bespoke garments are made with natural and Italian fabrics recovered from the end of production, therefore unique and unrepeatable. Part of the collection includes limited edition items that can be made on request and customized. The show is a genderfluid Fashion Performance, representing diversity and talent. It stages dancers, performers, and atypical models and wants to allow each individual to be himself after the difficult period we have been through. During the show the Phoenix, a symbol dear to Gabriella di Sambuy, opposes the Venetian Doctor of the Plague, who represents Covid and social oppression, and defeats him by sacrificing herself to be reborn from his own ashes and leave space, thanks to an interpretation in a modern key, to a second part of the show, positive and celebratory, in which the mood becomes disco and glam rock.
