How Did I step into this role? I walked in and asked for an interview. The the director liked my attitude and confidence. I took my previous experience, from signing up for mortgages, and trained as a mortgage underwriter initially, however, I did sign cases up in absence of an adviser. I dealt with the strictest document handling and multi-faceted business like this gave a full handheld service and liaised and negotiated between solicitors and estate agents. By 2000, I was asked with no formal background, to set up an estate agency, which This business would still be going today, it was a 20-year-old company, had the owner not gone into a brand-new business. I also valued houses, did the negotiations, and run a team of offices. I basically could do franking posts, making the tea, from sales negotiation to organizing adverts, no day was the same. I could be managing 30 -70 cases every month with the banks and needed to be articulate on both computers, fax, email, and in person. Having a smart contentious image to maintain.

I went to the job interview with no relevant experience, however, I was recruited, within months, of working from head office at Watford, traveling once a week in a company car, all expenses paid. My manager offered to look after my own cases, sign up, and send applications through courier to save on traveling. The job took me all over the country, into people's homes, building rapport with families, looking at their financial details, and giving them mortgage rates. Most people signed up there and then.
