Violante Toscani

My name is Violante, I'm 29 years old Italian and based in London. I work as an Accessories Designer at BY FAR covering bags, SLG, belts, and sunglasses. I previously worked for Burberry, Stella McCartney, Vetements, and Max Mara with 7 years of experience. On top of that, I have a strong family heritage in the leather raw material industry as I'm from a town in Tuscany, Santa Croce sull'Arno that you might know, where the primary sector is the tannery of leather, where my family has been working for years and still working now. In my current position, I lead a team of four people including myself composed of a Product Developer, a Product Developer Assistant and a Design Intern. My work follows a tight timeline of four collections a year and multiple capsule collections. This workflow starts with processing concepts and mood boards with the Design Team, generating sketches and technical packs, and selecting materials through research in the office and directly at the tanneries and trading fairs. I often travel to vendors all over Europe to work directly with them on prototypes and samples. I realize and lead the process of fabric to sketch, cross-functioning with Merchandising Team to achieve a creative and commercial collection. As soon as the samples are delivered as expected for runways and showrooms the next step is focusing on reaching the highest quality and industrialization for production, again with cross-functioning with the sales and Production Team for a cohesive result of the collection. I describe myself as creative functional and pragmatic, pushing to achieve the best result consistently with attention to empowering the team and creating a collaborative environment. I’m native Italian, fluent in English and can speak French for work purposes. I’m looking for new opportunities in London and abroad
