This French Lady, married to a Dutchman, came to Panama as a representative of Christian Dior in 1969 and finally stayed on. Breebaart creates designer fashion and accessories that incorporate contemporary looks with the traditional Kuna Indian women's art: the molas. It consists of colorful, appliquéd textiles that are sewn together by hand by a local crew of Kuna seamstresses who work in her studio. Although the colors in Latin American paintings can be vivid, those in the textiles on the premises of Breebaart are even brighter! Breebaart is mostly popular amongst Panama's rich and prominent women. Her speciality is custom-made pieces that take about a week to make.
