I’m a MA Creative Knitwear Design Graduate from Accademia Costume e Moda. As part of the course I won 2 Industry Projects for brands Iceberg and Falconeri, this allowed me to follow my personal designs with brand partners to professional manufacture. As a result of one of these I undertook an internship at Falconeri, Avio - a market leader in the world of cashmere. This was key in driving my wider understanding of the Knitwear Industry as a whole. I love developing new and innovative stitch techniques and exploring how they can be replicated at different market levels. Research is a key driver in my work, especially from external areas to the Fashion space, this helps to make new and innovative shapes and details.
Assisting in organising and maintaining the knitwear and fashion archive, supporting the archive team during visits of clients and schools. Maintaining the archive pieces with quality checks as the garments are loaned/returned. Faciliting the research of archive visitors, processing precious archive knitwear of Miss Deanna as new garments arrive and enter the archives.
Translating Technical Knitwear Design classes and workshops from Italian to English, to a range of different students. Assisting students on the knit machines: Coppo and Brother, advising them and problem solving on stitches for their ongoing projects. Assisted the class during Knitwear Typology classes with technical knitwear studies and History of Knitwear Lectures.
As a result of winning an Industry Project at Accademia Costume e Moda, I developed outfits from my collection with the Falconeri Design team and technicans. I also researched unique stitches and details to develop new collections. Designing a range of accessories to be alongside the main seasonal lines. Developng CAD flats was a key part of the role which greatly developed my skills in Adobe Creative Suite. I took part in large meetings with commerical teams to gain knowledge of how the market reacts to different silhouettes and details - this I found to be fundamental in driving designs forward.
