Job Overview

As a Bag Designer for Alyx, you will be responsible for creating innovative and commercial bags that resonate with our brand's ethos. You will work closely with the Creative Director and the design team to conceptualize and execute designs. This role requires a unique combination of creativity, technical skill, and an in-depth understanding of luxury market trends and leather design.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Development:

• Create original, high-quality handbag designs from concept to final product.
• Develop sketches, technical drawings, and prototypes.
• Source and select premium materials, hardware, and fabrics.
• Ensure designs meet the brand's quality and aesthetic standards.

Trend Analysis and Research:

• Stay abreast of current fashion trends, market demands, and competitor activities.
• Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and innovative design approaches.
• Attend fashion shows, trade fairs, and other industry events to gather inspiration and network with industry professionals.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with the Creative Director and design team to ensure cohesive collection themes and seasonal stories.
• Work closely with the product development team to ensure the feasibility and production viability of designs.
• Partner with marketing and merchandising teams to align design concepts with market strategies and consumer preferences.

Quality Control and Production:

• Oversee the production process to ensure that final products meet the brand's high standards of craftsmanship and quality.
• Work with manufacturers and suppliers to troubleshoot design and production issues.
• Review samples and provide feedback for adjustments and improvements.

Brand Representation:

• Represent the brand at industry events, trade shows, and press events.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and build relationships.
• Contribute to the brand's storytelling by conveying the design inspiration and craftsmanship behind each collection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in handbag design, preferably within the luxury sector.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of luxury handbag designs and technical drawings.
• Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
• Excellent knowledge of materials, production processes, and luxury craftsmanship.
• Strong understanding of the luxury fashion market and consumer behavior.
• Exceptional creativity, attention to detail, and an eye for aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in French is highly desirable.

Working Conditions

• Frequent travel between our London and Paris offices.
• Occasional travel to production sites, trade shows, and industry events.
• Flexibility in working hours, with the potential for extended hours during peak seasons and collection launches.
