The Art Director will work closely with the Brand Director and brand team to conceptualize innovative content according to the brand vision, building a stronger visual universe and narrative for the brand across all touchpoints, this includes stills + motion campaigns, social media content, e-commerce shoots and other brand related projects.  You will be involved in all steps of creation, from ideation and conceptualization to execution, and work on a range of digital and print concepts across Axel Arigato’s departments and channels.

In this brand critical role, you deliver and are obsessed with quality end to end in all productions. Everything from e-commerce imagery to suggesting and implementing creative collaborations & cultural initiatives to raise awareness of Axel Arigato values externally while enhancing the brand equity. Therefore, the role entails the Art Director to work closely with the Brand Director, Creative Producer, wider creative and marketing teams.

The responsibilities of this position encompass, but are not limited to: 

  • Create visually impactful and innovative concepts for still and film in line with brand image, content level and marketing strategy
  • Develop the creative shoot concepts from initial idea, research, mood board phase and dead and execute assigned creative projects from concept to completion
  • Suggest creative teams and collaborators. Partner with the Producer and develop a roster of talent, photographers, directors, set designers and creatives. 
  • Art direct creative teams on-set
  • Be responsible for post-production of image/video material for ecommerce and assigned creative projects. In charge of image selection, retouch comments and oversee retouch/grade
  • Work alongside the Graphic Designers in the production of marketing collateral such as newsletters, invitations, advertising and social media content
  • Support in the research and conceptualizing of bigger print and digital campaigns, creating moodboards and sketches for concept presentations
  • Develop creative guidelines and templates for existing and new initiatives – including creative tasks and presentations for other departments
  • Ensure all assets produced meet Axel Arigato’s visual identity standards and ensure synergy in art direction across all product categories. 
  • Develop creative briefs to be shared with internal and external parties. 
  • Share assets cross-departmentally to ensure content deliverables are complete and ready for launch in a timely manner.  
  • Maintain constant knowledge of current and upcoming projects and product releases. 

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in art direction, preferably within a fashion or lifestyle company
  • Strong art direction skills, from concepts to layouts, still and moving image
  • A strong portfolio (online or PDF)
  • Experience from print and digital art direction with video editing a plus
  • Skilled user of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Ability to produce global marketing assets
  • Ability to optimize flows and efficiency
  • Passionate about Axel Arigato with an understanding of the brand and aesthetic
  • Knowledge, interest and understanding of the fashion industry
  • Self-motivated, solution-oriented and hands-on
  • A strong team player with a positive outlook, happy to help out where needed
  • An organized multitasker with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
